Jet Setter

"I'm exhausted. Just spent the week at the beach in LA. Went shopping at a gazillion kid's stores. Walked and walked and walked some more. Visited with my Nana. Met my friend Ava at a party....need to sleep on the plane now. Coming home...."

Stinky

The petting zoo at a local pumpkin farm included some young cows and goats but mostly pigs. P.U. These young pigs were enjoying themselves gorging on a few pumpkins but we didn't enjoy being near them....too stinky!

Pumpkins!

Whoohoo! It's pumpkin time! I don't know about you, but our local stores never have BIG pumpkins to buy. This year I was determined to have many BIG pumpkins on our doorstep. On this day, I took Mommy and Sammy out to a local farm that had set up a big lot of pumpkins, a corn maze and a petting zoo. I found really huge pumpkins and Sammy allowed us to take her picture sitting on my finds. It was a little hard to get into the Halloween mood with the temperatures close to 80.

And here is where Grampa Ed will teach Sammy how to surf. What a beautiful day on the beach!

The Incredible Hulk

I've mentioned it before but the colors and sounds from the new toys are very stimulating to little Sammy. So much so that she waves her fists and grunts emit. She's kind of scary when she gets going....

Here is Nana and Sammy enjoying the sunshine and a warm southern California day. Hi Nana! Isn't Sammy the most edible thing ever?

Such concentration!

These are a few of the toys mentioned before. She concentrates so hard on holding these and making them make noise. I had to put a bib on her shortly after this photo was taken because she was drooling sooooo much!

Many of you know that Mommy and Sammy got on a plane and flew off to see Nana and Grampa Ed. Mommy has PROMISED to either email me photos DAILY or update this blog herself.

Autumn 2008

Our trees are turning their beautiful fall color and I thought that it would be an ideal time for a photo shoot with Sammy. I gave her a leave to hold on to while Mommy held her in front of a maple tree that has turned crimson. On this day, Sammy turned 6 months old!

Head Circumference

Here is a new winter hat that Mommy bought for Sammy last weekend. This is the second winter hat Mommy has bought. The first one, intended for 6-9 months old was too small. She took Sammy with her so that Sammy could try them on. This one ended up being for 12-24 months. Granted it slips on easily, but with Sammy's growth? This will be too small come next March.

More Toys?

I bought Sammy a little chair that we can use for support, play time and eventually a booster seat at the table. It is very colorful and comes with additional rings around it for the play table. With the play table attached it has several toys that can be inserted into it for her to play with. I also bought a new nubby ring rattle (seen here). These bright colors and noises are fascinating to her. She gets so excited over it all that she almost becomes over stimulated. It is hysterical to watch. Along with her Baby Einstein at home, she's a little girl with lots to play with.

6 month doctor check up

Today was Sammy's check up. And the reason why the blog is late this morning. She recieved five shots (again!). She weighs 16lbs 14oz (oh, hunko hunko burnin love here folks. Accent on the HUNK) and is 27 inches long. Ah, and her head circumference? In the 75% at 17 inches ROUND. A melon. Do you realize that this child is only 9 inches shy of being one yard long? Here she is:

Wait, I'm supposed to sit Indian style for how long? I can't sit ANY style yet, lady.

BTW, Mommy was the 1,000 visitor yesterday. And she gets squat. Did anyone else notice if they were 1,001? And Patti, yes, if you want to sign on 15 separate times to win the prize...go for it.

1000 Views

Well, we did it, folks. Sometime very soon, this blog will have had 1,000 views on it in it's very first month of accounting. Whoever is the 1,000 visitor will recieve a personal AUTOGRAPHED photo of Sammy herself. Unless it is Mommy or Daddy. They get nada.

Show off

Yes, here is a better picture of her new little earrings. The purple ink used to mark where to pierce hasn't completely come off so it actually looks a little bruised. IT'S NOT. But turning and twisting the earrings doesn't bother her at all. She's such a happy baby. When Daddy gets home, this will really make him smile!

Miss Bling

Yesterday, Sammy met a lady in a store that drew on Sammy's ears. Then this lady stated that Sammy probably wasn't old enough for a lollipop. Mommy said no, Sammy was too young for lollipops now. Then this very nice, very hygenic lady put some very pretty pink earrings in a little device and pierced Sammy's ears. You can see that in the beginning Sammy was leary of what was going on. The cold antiseptic wipes, the drawing with the purple pen, NO LOLLIPOPS, and a sting that hurt! Thank God that those things don't make the loud noise they used to do years ago. But it did sting her and it was done one at a time not both at the same time the way Mommy wanted it to. But it was over very fast. Yes, Sammy cried. I think Mommy cried, too. But a warm bottle was ready and Sammy smiled at the very nice, very hygenic lady when we left. Sammy was so good and so happy that I had to take a picture of her and her bling when we left the mall.

Spun Gold

The lighting was just right to highlight the strands of Sammy's fine hair. It no longer is 1/8" long...more like 1/2" in some places. Almost comb-able. Almost. Maybe. Ok, just pass your hand over it to push it back down into place. When it gets a little longer, she'll resemble a dandelion seed puff.

Gurgling

So Sammy has started to do this. Mommy says Sammy does this at night. A lot. All I do is laugh at her when she does it. (And, btw, doesn't she look so huggable here?)

What to do, what to do?

In less than two weeks, Mommy is taking Sammy on her very first airplane ride to visit Nana and Grampa Ed in southern California. This affects both you and me. Me? Yes, I won't see little Sammy to take her picture every day. You? You won't see the pictures I take. Daddy won't even see Mommy and Sammy's face, either! Hmmm. I don't know what to do to help you out. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe change the name of this blog to "Every Now and Again Samantha"? "Once in Awhile Samantha"? "The Next Time I See You, Samantha?" "Nope, Stop Looking for her Picture Here, Samantha"? "Check Back Next Week Samantha"?

If any of you have any suggestions on how we can get our DAILY fix of Sammy's face, leave a comment. I just don't know what to do.............

Sammy is always so happy to see family. Here she is with Grumpa before he goes to work. She gave him a big smile that he carried around all day long.

Keep an eye out

I know, I know...I'm a slacker. I will be posting over on 'From this Moment On' this upcoming week. You see, Grumpa, Daddy, and Uncle Mike are going hunting for a whole week. That = uninterrupted composing time! I actually have a long draft just waiting for me to upload photos to it and it will be ready to post. And we have been notified that her wedding proofs are ready!! And then the fun begins again!

Mouthful

Mommy had asked if I would start feeding Sammy rice cereal during day while she's here. Naturally, I would love to do it. I have always enjoyed feeding babies and kids. It doesn't matter how old the kids are either...3, 12, 35. So today was our first day together with Mr. Rice Cereal. I couldn't contain my laughter at her. She doesn't particularly like rice cereal either. She has the almost I'm-gonna-hurl gag reflex going on. And that made me laugh harder. Here she is half way through brunch. Let the hilarity ensue:

Yes, Puntin...this is what Mommy calls Sammy. And it is so appropriate when Sammy wears this shirt.

Gag reflex

With Sammy's new habit of leaving her tongue out all day long, the drooling is absolutely non-stop. Auntie picked her up and as she was setting her on her lap, Sammy let out one long streamer....Auntie gags very easily.

Can't get enough

Auntie times her work breaks to coincide to Sammy being here and awake with Mommy. Then the three of us fight to hold her. We have to let Mommy win, you know, with her being Mommy and all....

Kentucky vs. Duke

This one is for you daddy! Daddy is a Kentucky basketball fan and Mommy is a Duke basketball fan...but Sammy is happy no matter what hat she wears! Later on in her life she will go towards her true calling, the Bluedevils (hehe).

Off to the gym!

Sammy showed up in a track suit? Sweat suit? Jogging suit? Anyway, something most of us used wear to work out in. Was she adorable in it? Au naturalment!

Tomorrow's post will be done in the evening...sorry folks, I'll be out of town again and Mommy promises to post when she gets back.

Measurements

On Monday Sammy weighed in at 16 pounds. Most of it in her thighs that measure 10.5 inches around!

I can't put my fingers around them anymore. But they are so soft and squeeshy...you just want to nuzzle them.

(she and I have the same muscle tone!)
